Remote use of scope_pic


Features:

This page shows some code to remotely display a clock and some data on the scope_pic LCD from a Linux PC via a simple 3 wire cable using RS232 send only. Fastest speed about 3.9 us per sample, 256 kHz sample frequency.
The diagram,
This is the same as scope_pic, but the MAX232 has been replaced by a simple BC548 NPN transistor.
A 7805 stabiliser is used to generated 5V for the PIC and the LCD LED backlight.

This uses scope_pic LCD in graphics mode, and combines Linux rclock with some data using ImageMagic

scope_pic is just a simple PIC micro controller on a piece of prototype board mounted on the back of the LCD module, no PCB boards were made for this:
I am using 3 pole audio XLR connectors on the cable, pin 1 ground (leading contact), pin 2 +12V from an AC adaptor, and pin 3 RS232 out from /dev/ttyS0 (COM1).
Any voltage drop in the cable is regulated out by the 7805 stabiliser on the PCB, current is less then 150 mA with LCD backlight on.
